update since last post and second chemo treatment

Been a little while since I posted, been feeling better since then.  I laid low a little bit for a day or two and then started doing some stuff again, went to the grocery store, went to a buddies house to hang out, went and bought some shoes (my old ones are totally dead and that may be part of the problem with my hip and knees).  Didn’t really feel shitty (or only very slightly one or two days).  Overall been feeling better than I have for at least a month, maybe more like three or more months.  Actually went to work on Tuesday and Wednesday.  I felt a little tired after working but not shitty.  Feels good to not just be sitting around the house like I’ve basically been doing for more than a month, well besides going to doctors appointments.

Had my second chemo treatment Thursday, went fine.  I can feel the difference after chemo when it comes to nausea, but didn’t really feel much actual nausea until today.  Today I was kinda nauseous but not that bad, ate some pretzels and American cheese for lunch but dinner I ate a Turkey, Ranch and bacon sandwich from Arby’s no problem.  Last time it was worst on Sunday, so not sure what will come tomorrow but we’ll see.  So far it hasn’t really been worse than last time, so hoping that continues into tomorrow.  Hoping to get back to work on Monday or Tuesday but I’ll just have to see how the next couple days go.

As for Intuit’s questions, the only thing they’ve said is after chemo to eat bland food to try and help against nausea.  Other than a few days after chemo, I’ve been eating my normal diet without having to avoid anything.  They haven’t really said anything about exercise, basically they seem to just want me to do what I feel up too but not over exert myself.

That diet I read in one of the earlier blogs seems loaded with sodium. Would recommend trying to sneak a huge salad in there but that chemo affects your immune system right ? In that case, might be a bad idea.

What was I eating that was ‘loaded with sodium’? But ya, I probably eat a shitload of salt… what of it? Salt is delicious, damn it! 🙂 Of late I’ve been better about eating at home and eating vegetables. Those microwaveable steamer bags are good times, super easy and not that expensive and I actually end up liking them more than boiling or steaming vegetables. Birdseye Pea Pods are good, so is there corn. Birdseye or Green Giant Green beans aren’t bad either, and those I actually don’t like boiled. A buddy of mine showed me a good way to do broccoli that’s real easy and good too, just put some oil in a frying pan, cut the broccoli into pieces of about the same size and drop them in the pan and put some soy sauce on top and mostly keep them moving so it doesn’t burn on any side. Good stuff.

And ya, chemo lowers your immune system (as I’m sure the actual cancer would by it’s self as well). Why would a lowered immune system make salad a bad idea?
