Know a little more about infusion and radiation

Saw the doctor that will be overseeing or whatever the stem cell infusion, so have more info about it and the radiation treatment.  Ok, so I’ll have three total cycles of chemo which are three days in a row three weeks apart.  After the last chemo they’ll collect stem cells for 1 to 3 days probably in the third week after.  Shortly there after (3 or 4 weeks after the last chemo) they’ll start radiation.  The radiation will be twice a day for 2.5 to 3 weeks.  Three or 4 weeks after that they’ll do the super chemo, then give me the stem cells two days after and I’ll be in the hospital for three weeks after that since that chemo will zero out my immune system basically.

So basically it’s going to be an awesome 6 months or whatever it is (haven’t and probably won’t calculate what the actual amount of time it is, not sure I want to know that) but ya, what other option do I have?  And like I’ve said before, at least I do have an option and at least that option isn’t a super longshot.

Anyway, I should be in bed, have chemo tomorrow morning.

“not sure I want to know that” – Phew! Definitely understandable. Some night when you get bored enough, will probably end up doing a quick & dirty head calculation anyway.

I set my watch some random number fast and kind of do the same thing about not wanting to know just how fast it is.

I think if I knew exactly how much time it is probably going to be, it’d be more imposing and foreboding. Rather leave it vague and let it happen.
